The Baker and the Elf Pirate

Lady Margot dreams of baking, but her mother won’t allow her anywhere near a kitchen. So Margot sneaks out for lessons with a local baker, knowing full well that if her mother learns the truth, her entire future is on the line.

When she nearly runs into her gossip-loving aunt on her way home from a lesson, discovery seems imminent. Her only option is to grab the nearest person and beg him to hide her.

Alvon is not accustomed to being clutched at by frantic young women. He is an elf, a pirate, and a spy, and anyone who gets this close meets a quick end. But something about the girl—her beauty, her desperation—catches his attention.

Neither is looking for love. Their lives don’t align at all. But it soon becomes clear that a future apart is no longer an option.

The first part of The Baker and the Elf Pirate was previously published as “A Trifling Encounter” in the anthology Meetings and Mayhem. The complete story can be downloaded for free here.
